यार ने जीना किया दुश्वार आधी रात को
किस कदर फ़ित्ने किये बेदार आधी रात को
The beloved made life impossible at midnight
So many sweet terrors she awakened at midnight
शाम से जिनकी चुभन थी हिज्र का हंगाम था
फूल कैसे बन गए वो ख़ार आधी रात को
Since evening there had been the pricks in the hours of separation
Amazing! How those thorns transformed into flower at midnight
आसमां से चाँद उतरा मुझसे ऐसा कुछ कहा
खुल गए आलम के सब असरार आधी रात को
The moon descended from above and said to me such-
That imparted the the secrets of universes upon me at midnight
रात की रानाईयों से मिलता जुलता वो लगा
उसने मुझसे जो किया इकरार आधी रात को
Resembled that to the beauties of night I realized
The amorous declaration by her to me at midnight
इल्तिफ़ाते हुस्न के गुंचे खिले कब्ले सहर
हो गयी उम्मीदे दिल गुलज़ार आधी रात को
The bunches of the grace of beauty began to break before dawn
The hope and longing of heart became garden at midnight
था अंधेरा हो गयी रौशन फ़िज़ाए मयकशी
यकबयक साक़ी हुआ मयख्वार आधी रात को
It was darkness around but just lit up the environs
All at once the wine-giver became wine consumer at midnight
ये अदा थी जिसमें थे इम्काने अनवारे सहर
लौटने की ज़िद पे था दिलदार आधी रात को
This very gesture possessed the possibility of light of morning
Her insistance to go back home at midnght
दिल हुआ बेकाबू मेरी अक़्ल हैरां थी सुहैल
उसने कुछ ऐसा किया इज़हार आधी रात को
My heart was not in my control and sagacity was in a fix
For she expressed such different altogether at midnight
